How Affirmations for Self Love and Healing Are Life Changing

Affirmations for self love spiritual growth are an amazing addition to anyone’s life. I know you may be wary about how affirmations for self love and healing actually work and IF they actually do, or it’s just a “spiritual scam”. Everyone has their own opinion, but from my personal experience as well as so many people I know they genuinely do.

Seeing my life begin to have more clarity, more love for myself and allow me to practice discipline and focus, it was clear that affirmations were affecting me in a positive way. If you do have your skepticism about affirmations for self love and healing, or you just want to learn more about how they work and how to effectively use them, please continue reading! Because if we are being completely honest… I don’t know how anyone could shit on an uplifting mantra tool such as affirmations! There is definitely no harm in hyping yourself up everyday, and that’s what this is!

What are Self Love Affirmations and How Do They Work?

You may be wondering okay… so what if I personally have experience with these affirmations. I could be lying, or it could be subjective. But scientific studies have proven that self affirmations help activate a part of your brain that is associated with self related processing and reward. This means that when you affirm certain parts of yourself your brain is becoming self aware of those aspects you are focusing on in your brain and your brain is receiving positive conditioning in relation to the statements you are using.

Not only this, affirmations for self love and healing have benefits in many other areas. It can increase your personal well being, improve academic and daily performance, decrease stress and lead to opening people to behavioral changes.

Essentially what an affirmation is, is a specific phrase or statement that affirms a certain quality, belief, or feeling about yourself. It gives you a chance to affirm your self worth and value, allowing you to self reflect about your core qualities, values and beliefs in your life. This is half of the process that leads into the behavioral change associated with affirmations.

Affirmations to Actions

When it comes to my personal experience with affirmations, I wondered how I would go from telling myself “I am focused and disciplined in my goals and aspirations” to actually feeling and believing it. Day after I day I would tell myself a list of affirmations (LINK JOURNAL) that helped me change the way I saw myself and believed I had the power to do. I realized that it wasn’t an instant change of me saying it, then feeling like I did it. I knew I actually had to commit to actions to become those things I was trying to make myself believe.

Now what it did for me, is reminded me everyday to show up as that person who believed those things about myself. It almost subconsciously gave me the motivation to take actions that showed how much I loved myself or how much I was focused.

There was one situation where it completely clicked for me. One of my affirmations for self love and healing was “I am honest and I am integrity”. I consider myself someone who likes to tell a harmless white lie here and there, often for no reason. One day a situation arose where I could choose to lie or tell the truth, and crazily enough, it immediately made me think “Well I tell myself everyday I am honest, so I should be honest in this situation”.

It was amazing to see in real time. That act of consistently telling myself I was these things, pushed me to want to make that behavioral change when the opportunity arose to act as that way. This makes so much sense, because relating it back to classes I took in my business classes in high school we were taught about how businesses hire psychologists to help persuade buyers into making a purchase. These tools involve a lot of subconscious conditioning to lead a customer to the checkout on a website. So why wouldn’t it work the same way with positive affirmations for self love and healing that you are telling yourself on a consistent basis?

Even though I say all this, I do want to make it clear that affirmations can push and motivate you to be those statements, beliefs, and feelings you are affirming yourself everyday, but know there is some action on your end required. To me they helped me have the desire to make these changes, then I did the rest of the work and put in those actions to see the positive change in my life.

I have an awesome list of 10 affirmations I use consistently and want to share them with you all. You can sign up to get our free printable in your email AND the breakdown of how to create personalized affirmations for yourself which I will breakdown more below.

Creating Personalized Affirmations

I hope you are already starting to realize how affirmations can have life changing effects on the way you view yourself and value yourself. Another thing that can create immense positive change in your life is journaling. If you are looking for a 28-day habit forming journal, packed with mood trackers, daily affirmations, manifestation sheet and more, please check out our journal in our store.

Have you ever wanted to make your own affirmations for self love and healing? They can be personalized to your lifestyle, your personal journey and current limiting beliefs about yourself.

Have you ever wanted to make your own affirmations for self love and healing? They can be personalized to your lifestyle, your personal journey and current limiting beliefs about yourself.

Of course there are so many existing affirmations that are general positive ways you should be viewing yourself and loving yourself. These are great to use and take inspiration from, but you should add on to them and create affirmations that align with where you are currently in your life. What are you trying to improve on or work on when it comes to healing, relationships, your dreams, and/or your life goals? For a worksheet with premade affirmations and a fillable template with directions to create your own, download our free printable here.

The first thing you want to do is write down all the limiting beliefs you have about yourself. This could stem from negative self-talk you may notice yourself saying in your head throughout the day or any other feelings or mindsets of lack. This can also include reasons why you don’t believe you can do or accomplish something right now.

Once you have created this list, I want you to create an “I AM” statement next to each negative belief or mindset. This statement will be the opposite of that negative idea, feeling, or thought, creating a positive affirmation that states you being present as the person who doesn’t believe those limiting statements.

Now you will say this affirmation every day, every other day or at least a few times a week. I understand how hard consistency can be, and you will see positive effects regardless of if its a daily practice. But you must have some sort of consistency to this in order to see continuous growth and change. And there you go! You now have a personalized affirmations list that is catered to your specific and current life journey.

Start implementing these affirmations for self love and healing and watch as your life transforms in front of your eyes.
