I have made the classics,  ones dipped in chocolate, brown butter and even cookie monster rice krispie treats. I think I’ve create the perfect strawberry rice krispie treats recipe just in time for the start of spring.

So let’s get into this strawberries and cream rice krispie treat! Just know that this specific method using brown butter and extra marshmallows will create the most gooey rice krispie treats recipe. Plus it takes les than 30 minutes, let’s get into it!

Gather Ingredients

Make sure you have all the ingredients needed for this gooey rice krispie treats recipe on hand:

  • Jumbo Marshmallows
  • Rice Crispy Cereal
  • Butter
  • Red Food Dye
  • Strawberry Extract
  • Freeze Dried Strawberries (Optional)
  • White Chocolate Chips

You can choose to add the extra freeze dried strawberries for a more flavor strawberry rice krispie treat. Make sure to purchase unsalted butter for this recipe. Along with that you can substitute red for pink dye or no dye at all and get flecks of red color with the freeze dried strawberries.

So once you have all these ingredients, quickly grab the needed equipment to make this recipe too.

Luckily these are all things you hopefully have in your house already. Now lets start making the marshmallow mixture for this gourmet rice krispie treat recipe!

Marshmallow mixture

Begin by melting down the butter in a pot or saucepan. Stir continuously until the melted butter begins to brown and you begin to smell a nuttiness. The brown butter in this recipe helps deepen the rice krispie treats flavor and aids in the making this super gourmet and gooey.

Throw in the marshmallows to the pan and melt them down stirring every half a minute or so. At the beginning you will notice the marshmallows are melting but are very separated from the butter. You will know the mixture is completely melted and combined when the two ingredients are seamlessly mixed and you see no separation between the solids/liquids.

You can remove this from the heat and get ready for the next step to this rice krispie treats recipe with a twist.

Mix it all in

Once you remove the marshmallow mixture from the heat take your red food dye and add a couple drops into the pan or pot. Along with that add in the strawberry extract. Mix that together and add any more drops of red dye if you want a deeper color for your strawberry rice krispie treats.

I don’t know about you, but I am personally obsessed with the vibrancy of this dessert, I was enthralled while making these!

Now get ready to bring everything together. Start by pouring the marshmallow and brown butter mixture on top of the rice crispy cereal. Fold everything together until every single rice crispy piece is coated in the reddish-pink strawberry marshmallows.

I was trying so hard not to just dig into these gooey rice krispie treats before they were finished. So I know you must be dying to finish this recipe so YOU can get to it. Last but not least, pour in most of the dried strawberry slices and white chocolate chips, to help get that perfect strawberries and cream flavor. Leave some of each leftover so you can add those to the strawberry rice krispie treats later once you have everything in the pan. Mix all the goodies together in the bowl until distributed through the mixture.

Prepare your 9×11 inch by coating in butter so when these rice krispie treats are set, they slide right out nice and easy.

Let set and store

With your pan ready, you can pour the rice crispy mixture into the pan and mold it into the corner and create an even layer.

Am I the only one who gets turned on by how delicious a dessert can look?! This is why I like to consider this strawberries and cream treat a gourmet rice krispie treats recipe. As you can see in the picture above, I finished these off by taking the leftover white chocolate chips and dried strawberry slices I set aside earlier on top and pressed them into the rice krispies.

Now take your masterpiece and cover with plastic wrap, foil or a plastic lid if your dish comes with one and let set in the refrigerator for at least 20 minutes.

After the brief period of time you have been made to wait salivating, you can take out cut and enjoy your strawberry rice krispie treats.

And that is all there is to it to make these delicious gourmet rice krispie treats!

I quite literally made this recipe on a Monday, and half of batch is GONE and it’s only Thursday. That may not seem bad, but I live alone and have shared not ONE! 😂

Please let me know how you enjoyed this rice krispie treat recipe with a twist. And even though I didn’t share, this is DEFINITELY a share-worthy treat.

To store, keep covered in the refrigerator, or take the cut rice krispie squares and plastic wrap each individually.

Ingredients

  • 2 sticks unsalted butter, browned

  • 10 ounce bag of jumbo marshmallows

  • 1/2 teaspoon strawberry extract

  • Pink food dye

  • 6 cups rice crispy cereal

  • 3/4 cup white chocolate chips

Directions

  • In a saucepan or pot, melt down the two sticks of butter. Continue stirring the butter at medium heat until it starts to brown and smell nutty.
  • Add the marshmallows to the pan or pot and melt them down while stirring together. At the beginning the marshmallows will look like they aren’t mixing with the butter, but after about 5 minutes it will.
  • Remove from the heat and add the strawberry extract and pink food dye. Add as many drops until you get to your desired shade of pink.
  • Pour this mixture on top of the rice crispies and mix together until all of them are completely coated.
  • Add ½ cup of the white chocolate chips and ¾ of the dried strawberries to the rice crispies stirring together, leaving a bit extra of these to top the treats with later.
  • Coat the 9x11 inch pan with butter or place parchment paper inside to prevent the rice crispy treats from sticking.
  • Pour the mixture into the pan and spread evenly. Sprinkle the rest of the white chocolate chips and rest of dried strawberries on top of the pan and gently press into the rice krispies.
  • Place this in the refrigerator covered for at least 20 minutes. Then cut and enjoy!
