minutesThe best banana bread loaf you will ever put upon your taste buds. Deliciously sweet, moist and simple to make. Perfect with no additions, but even better topped with chocolate chips and pecans!
Ingredients
4 ripe bananas, mashed
1/2 cup dark brown sugar
1/2 cup white granulated sugar
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
2 eggs
1 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/4 cup sour cream
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and prepare a loaf pan with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl add the ripe bananas and mash them together with a fork or potato masher.
- Add in the brown and white sugars and whisk together until combined.
- Then pour in the melted butter, add the eggs, vanilla and sour cream. Whisk all the wet ingredients into the mashed banana mixture until distributed.
- Lastly, add in the dry ingredients at once or flour, baking powder and salt. Use a rubber spatula to fold the dry into the wet until no flour streaks are left and a slightly thick batter is formed.
- Pour this batter into the prepared loaf pan. Top with chocolate chips and chopped pecans if desired and/or place into the oven to bake for about 55 minutes to an hour.
- Use a toothpick to test if the loaf is done. You will know they are done when the toothpick is inserted and it comes out with slightly moist crumbs.
- Once done baking, let cool completely. Remove from the loaf pan and cut into slices. Serve and enjoy!
Notes
- If you are storing for later, the best way to package is wrapping each individual piece in plastic wrap and storing at room temperature.
- An alternative to using sour cream in this recipe is yogurt.
