Banana Bread Loaf

I don’t think I will ever get tired of banana bread. If you are looking for a simple and delicious banana bread loaf recipe, than you are in the right place. While adding all the fixings to banana bread definitely takes it up a notch, this recipe can fare on its own with its moist and fluffy texture.

Never start a banana bread recipe without extra ripe bananas. The riper they are the sweeter and better the banana bread loaf will come out. This recipe will only take 10 minutes of preparation then you can sit back and let this delicious dessert bake in the oven and infect your home with its delicious smells. I know I am ready, but are YOU ready to get into this recipe?

Equipment & Ingredients

To make this banana bread loaf you will need these ingredients:

  • Bananas
  • Brown Sugar
  • White Sugar
  • Butter
  • Eggs
  • Vanilla
  • Sour Cream
  • All Purpose Flour
  • Baking Powder
  • Salt

As for the equipment, the list is much shorter! You will just need:

  • Loaf Pan
  • Parchment Paper
  • Masher
  • Whisk

And just like that your banana bread loaf is complete. I loved adding some extra texture and chocolate by topping my banana bread with loads of chocolate chips and chopped pecans before throwing them into the oven, but that is of course optional.

Let me know how this recipe came out for you. My friends and coworkers literally couldn’t get enough of this breakfast or dessert. What a beautiful sentence…knowing that you can eat this masterpiece at any time of the day and not be judged for it! If you have any yummy additions that take this banana bread loaf to the next level please share it in the comments and don’t forget to share your homemade banana bread and/ or the recipe with family, friends or a loved one!

The best banana bread loaf you will ever put upon your taste buds. Deliciously sweet, moist and simple to make. Perfect with no additions, but even better topped with chocolate chips and pecans!

Ingredients

  • 4 ripe bananas, mashed

  • 1/2 cup dark brown sugar

  • 1/2 cup white granulated sugar

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

  • 2 eggs

  • 1 teaspoons vanilla extract

  • 1/4 cup sour cream

  • 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and prepare a loaf pan with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl add the ripe bananas and mash them together with a fork or potato masher.
  • Add in the brown and white sugars and whisk together until combined.
  • Then pour in the melted butter, add the eggs, vanilla and sour cream. Whisk all the wet ingredients into the mashed banana mixture until distributed.
  • Lastly, add in the dry ingredients at once or flour, baking powder and salt. Use a rubber spatula to fold the dry into the wet until no flour streaks are left and a slightly thick batter is formed.
  • Pour this batter into the prepared loaf pan. Top with chocolate chips and chopped pecans if desired and/or place into the oven to bake for about 55 minutes to an hour.
  • Use a toothpick to test if the loaf is done. You will know they are done when the toothpick is inserted and it comes out with slightly moist crumbs.
  • Once done baking, let cool completely. Remove from the loaf pan and cut into slices. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

  • If you are storing for later, the best way to package is wrapping each individual piece in plastic wrap and storing at room temperature.
  • An alternative to using sour cream in this recipe is yogurt.
