Chocolate Chip Cookie Skillet

Better than a regular chocolate chip cookie. This chocolate chip cookie skillet has crispy edges and a soft gooey center. Finish that with some vanilla ice cream and you have quite the masterpiece on your hands.

I am a huge fan of Chili’s cookie skillets for dessert, so I just knew I had to recreate this dish at home with my favorite homemade chocolate chip cookie dough, so I could indulge in this delicious treat in the comfort of my own home. I believe this recipe is the epitome of food porn and I simply couldn’t get enough when trying it for the first time.

Let us get right into this easy recipe…

Equipment & Ingredients

To make this chocolate chip cookie skillet you will need these ingredients:

  • Flour
  • White Sugar
  • Brown Sugar
  • Butter
  • Salt
  • Baking Soda
  • Semi-sweet Chocolate Chips
  • Vanilla Extract
  • Eggs

As for the equipment, this is all you will need:

  • Mixing Bowls
  • 10 inch cast iron skillet
  • Hand Mixer or Rubber Spatula

Here are some tips to make this the best chocolate chip cookie skillet to ever touch your taste buds.

Browned Butter: Melting butter on the stove until is slightly browned and nutty smelling adds an added flavor and richness to any cookie recipe, that I will simply never go back. This is one of the biggest differences between my best chocolate chip cookies and a more basic one.

Chill Time: Letting a cookie dough rest in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes allow the flavors in the dough to truly emulsify and come through once baking. This also leaves you with a crispier cookie on the edges along with the most gooey chocolate center.

Dark Brown Sugar: Using dark brown sugar instead of light, means a bit more molasses is added to this chocolate chip cookie skillet. This along with the browned butter depends the flavor and helps you create a cookie with less lift and cakey-ness.

Once your chocolate chip cookie skillet is done, you want to put that ice cream on as soon as it is ready to serve. Feel free to add any additional toppings of your choice such as chocolate sauce, whipped cream or caramel sauce – some of my personal favorites.

This size skillet is perfect to share with family and friends. Making this cookie skillet as a shareable dessert at a party, girls night in or family movie night will be sure to add sweet joy to anyone’s day. Share this recipe with someone you love. 🙂
