Bird Nest Cookies (Easter)

Easter is right around the corner, which means you need some easter dessert ideas for the dessert table! These simple bird nest cookies are quick and require no baking to make. They are the perfect dessert to make with kids or serve on Easter Sunday.

These bird nest cookies are crunchy, sweet, and festive. My favorite has to be the combination of different textures and flavors with the shredded wheats, chocolate eggs, peanut butter and sweetened coconut. These are flavors that I wasn’t sure how well they would taste together, but they work so well! Let’s get into this recipe…

Equipment & Ingredients

To make these bird nest cookies you will need these ingredients:

  • Shredded Wheat Cereal
  • Peanut Butter
  • Milk Chocolate Chips
  • Sweetened Shredded Coconut
  • Green Food Dye
  • Mini Cadbury Eggs

As for the equipment, the list is much shorter! You will just need:

  • Cupcake Liners
  • Cupcake Pan
  • Mixing Bowl

I could not get over how cute and uniform these dessert cookies are. You will impress everyone on Easter day with these festive treats. They are such “pop in your mouth” dessert snacks that not only will they catch everyone’s eye, but they won’t last for long either.

Let me know how these came out for you in the comments and share these bird nest cookies and or recipe with your family and friends! 🙂

The cutest and most festive Easter treat. These no bake bird nest cookies combine sweet milk chocolate and peanut butter with shredded wheat cereal, topped with some Cadbury chocolate eggs.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups shredded wheat cereal

  • 1/2 cup peanut butter

  • 8 ounces milk chocolate

  • 1/2 cup sweetened shredded coconut

  • green food dye

  • Mini Cadbury eggs

Directions

  • In a mixing bowl, melt the peanut butter and semi sweet chocolate in the microwave together at 30 second intervals until the mixture has become smooth.
  • Pour the shredded wheat cereal into the chocolate mixture and fold together until completely coated.
  • Take your cupcake pan and fill with cupcake liners.
  • Place a heaping tablespoon full of the chocolate wheat mixture into each cupcake liner.
  • Press the mixture into the liners with the spoon and create a well in the middle of each wheat mixture to emulate an eggs nest and create space for the eggs later.
  • Place these in the freezer for 15 minutes.
  • While those are hardening, place some green food dye in a plastic bag and add the shredded coconut. Seal shut and mix with your hands until all of the coconut pieces are green.
  • Once the chocolate nests have hardened you can remove them from the cupcake liners.
  • Sprinkle a little of the green coconut into each chocolate next and then place 3 Cadbury eggs on top of each to finish. Enjoy!
