Cinnamon Twists (Taco Bell Recipe)

I love a 4 ingredient recipe! This is everything you will need:

  • Duros
  • Cinnamon
  • Sugar
  • Frying Oil

As for the equipment you need only 2 things;

Make the Cinnamon Sugar Mixture

Before getting into frying the duros into these sweet cinnamon twists, we need to make the cinnamon sugar mixture. Simply add the white sugar and cinnamon into a bowl and stir together. Mix thoroughly until it looks like sand. 

Set this aside and have ready for when the cinnamon twists taco bell recipe is complete.

Fry the Cinnamon Twists (Duros)

Now that your frying oil is heated, add in your duros. Watching this fried treat puff up in the oil is quite a treat. Once you add to the oil and they puff up, there is really no need to flip them over because they cook so quick. After 30-45 seconds remove these from the oil and place straight into the bowl of cinnamon sugar mix.

The beauty of these delicious snack is they puff up quickly in hot oil, unlike any other pasta. So don’t go trying to make this recipe with just as pasta noodle in your pantry.

Coat Cinnamon Twists

Now that the duros are freshly fried and transferred to the cinnamon sugar bowl. Its time to shake these cinnamon twists around! Coat them heavily by continuously tossing and turning them in the mixture. Try to get as much as possible to stick to the fried snack. It sticks better if this part is done immediately after exiting the frying oil.

A light and airy duro cinnamon twists, HEAVILY coated in cinnamon sugar just like the original taco bell treats. We don't skimp on the cinnamon and sugar here!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups duros

  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon

  • 1/2 cup white granulated sugar

  • Frying Oil

Directions

  • Start heating the vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  • While that is heating up, mix the cinnamon and sugar together with a fork in a small bowl.
  • Prepare a plate with a paper towel to transfer the fried duros to once done.
  • Once the oil is hot, place about a dozen duros in at once and fry until they have puffed up. Stir and flip them around and let cook for another few seconds until lightly golden brown.
  • Use tongs or a slotted spoon to remove the duros from the oil and place on a paper towel.
  • Using a bowl with a lid add the cinnamon and sugar mixture. Then add the fried duros and toss around until fully coated. Remove from the bowl and onto a serving plate, shaking off any excess cinnamon and sugar.
  • Repeat this process with the rest of the duros until all are fried and coated. Share and enjoy!
