To make these rice krispy treat brownies you will need these ingredients: 

  • Cocoa Powder
  • Flour
  • Butter
  • Semisweet Chocolate Bar
  • White Granulated Sugar
  • Brown Sugar
  • Salt
  • Eggs
  • Vanilla Extract
  • Cocoa Powder
  • All Purpose Flour
  • Marshmallows
  • Cocoa Puff Cereal

As for the equipment, this is all you will need:

  • Mixing Bowls
  • 9×9 Baking Dish
  • Parchment Paper
  • Saucepan/Pot

My favorite thing about these rice krispy brownies is that it is such an easy recipe to alter based on your favorite flavors. If you love strawberry chocolate, replace the cocoa puff cereal with your favorite strawberry flavored cereal when creating the marshmallow topping. This recipe creates endless possibilities for any at home baker to satisfy their sweet tooth.

The perfect mix of crunchy cocoa puff marshmallow treats on top of a fudgy homemade brownie to create these delicious rice krispy treat brownies!

Ingredients

  • Brownie Batter
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, browned

  • 4 ounces semisweet chocolate

  • 1/2 cup white granulated sugar

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 3 eggs

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder

  • 1/2 cup all purpose flour

  • Marshmallow Topping
  • 10 ounce bag marshmallows

  • 5 tablespoons unsalted butter

  • 3 cups cocoa puff cereal

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and prepare a baking dish with parchment paper. Set aside.
  • In a saucepan, melt the butter until it's brown and nutty. Then pour this into a large mixing bowl along with the chocolate bar pieces.
  • Let sit for a few seconds and then stir the two ingredients together until the chocolate chips melt completely.
  • Add in both the salt, white and brown sugars and whisk until combined.
  • Add in the other wet ingredients of vanilla and eggs. Whisk again until smooth.
  • Now add in the cocoa powder and flour and fold into the batter until incorporated completely and a thick batter is formed.
  • Transfer this batter to the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
  • Bake in the oven for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  • Once they are done, remove from the oven and let cool completely.
  • While those cool, take a large pot and make the cocoa puff marshmallow topping.
  • Add the butter to a saucepan over medium heat and melt completely.
  • Add in the marshmallows, stirring every minute or so until melted and smooth.
  • Pour in the cocoa puff cereal and stir into the marshmallow mixture. Coat the cereal evenly and then pour this on top of the brownies.
  • Press and spread the cocoa puff mixture to fit into the baking dish.
  • Let sit at room temperature for an hour. Then cut into squares with a sharp knife. Serve and enjoy.
